EIHA stands for English Ice Hockey Association which is the governing body for youth ice hockey in England |
|
EIHA LEVEL 1 3 COURSE |
The EIHA 1-3 course takes place over 6 weeks and players are assessed over the course by the Haringey Coach Lester Brenner as well as other coaches from the junior ice hockey club. Lester is also part of the coaching team for the U12, Haringey Bulldogs. The EIHA 1 3 assists the new hockey player in many aspects of the game correct stance (ready position), holding the hockey stick correctly, and skating correctly with good stick control. All skills are taught without using the puck which allows the players to access the course with a minimum amount of equipment. You will learn how to stop and start, pivot, tight turn, and crossover forwards and backwards. With ice hockey being such a specialist sport there are many, many more skills that you will be taught before you are ready to progress onto the EIHA 4-6 course. In addition, you will get the chance to play mini-scrimmages to get a feel for the fast moving nature of the game. |
|
EIHA LEVEL 4 6 COURSE |
The EIHA 4-6 course takes place over 6 weeks and players are assessed over the course by the Haringey Coach Lester Brenner as well as other coaches from the junior ice hockey club. This session is to assist the more advanced new player in many aspects of the game basic principles of stick handling whilst standing still and stick handling whilst skating.
In addition you will learn how to stop and start whilst puckhandling, pivot whilst puckhandling, tight turn with a puck, and crossover forwards and backwards while carrying a puck. This course is more intense with the emphasis being put on agility skills whilst stickhandling at the same more game-like in preparation in bridging the gap of a beginner player to an established player.
With ice hockey being such a specialist sport there are many, many more skills that you will be taught during the EIHA 4-6 course. |
